OH. MY. GOSH. OMG! OMG! OMG! I never in a million years would have thought that I would have the opportunity to go to a five day destination photography workshop in Paris…but it’s happening! This July I’ll travel to Paris, France (not Paris, Texas 🙂 for The Signature Atelier. This is a workshop lovingly designed for female photographers by Abby Grace and Katherine Bignon. I am so over the moon excited I don’t even know where to begin.

I honestly did not think that I would be able to go. I have been looking for a photography workshop for over a year and everything I came across just didn’t seem to fit what I thought I needed. They were either too beginner, too focused on one subject, or in a location that I didn’t feel would really inspire or challenge me. Then this past December I saw the announcement for this workshop. I immediately signed up for the email updates. As Abby and Katherine released the itinerary over the course of the next few weeks I could feel my excitement bubbling up. I started making deals with myself…if I can go for $X I’ll talk to my husband about it. Then when the price was released and it was more than my $X amount I decided I couldn’t go. I’d have to wait and see if they do another one in 2018 and I would diligently save my dollars.

But I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. It had bored into my head and I just couldn’t let it go!

As I’m sure you can guess, there was a lot more hemming and hawing over making this decision. I thought about it for several more days before I even brought it up to my husband, whose default setting is always “what’s the worst that could happen?” After further days of thought, goal reviewing and soul searching, I decided the universe was telling me something…because this wobbly, anxious excitement is the EXACT feeling I had before I took that job at Disney and again before I went into the Navy…both decisions that changed my life! I brought it up to my husband and he looked at the website. He thought it sounded perfect for me and suggested that if I was still unsure, I could ask another photographer that had previously attended one of Abby’s other workshops if it helped her business. The responses I got back from the photographers I emailed were all raves.

I was still feeling majorly guilty about taking so much of our money to spend in one five day span even though I knew it would be such a big help. It was giving me some major anxiety but my husband, being how he is, just told me to do it and that he had been to France so many times [in the Navy] he couldn’t keep track and it was time for me to catch up! LMAO!!!

So if you need me, July 9th-14th I’ll be sipping champagne and photographing the Eiffel Tower with Abby, Katherine and nine other lovely photographers! I may even stay in Paris a few extra days to enjoy the Bastille Day festivities and visit Disneyland Paris.
