Early this past summer I joined Brooke from Aesthetically Galveston on a fun and relaxing Galveston yacht birthday party cruise along Galveston Island. She wanted an unforgettable experience to share with friends, and she absolutely achieved it!
We sailed with Great Escapes Yacht Charter which offers cruises for all kinds of get togethers and celebrations including birthdays, proposals, bachelor and bachelorette parties and elopements! If you’re a boat person without a boat (just like me, LOL!!), this is for you.
We set sail in the afternoon with John and Don captaining. They worked with Brooke on the route she was interested in for our cruise. We meandered through some of the waterways in Hitchcock, looking at the beautiful houses along the edge of the canals. Exiting the canals, we passed through West Bay and entered Offatts Bayou where we got to take in the Moody Gardens skyline from the water. We eventually dropped anchor in Offatts Bayou for a couple hours so anyone that wanted to could go swimming!
When cruising, snacks are a must. Brooke had a beautiful charcuterie spread from Beach Babe Charcuterie, as well as an incredible vegan cake from Minted Walnut. The boat has lots of seating and some easy spots to set out food, including a table inside.
We started to head back toward the marina during the evening golden hour and took in the most incredible sunset in West Bay. I would absolutely recommend scheduling your charter during sunset. It is so peaceful and refreshing, and the perfect way to close out an incredible day on the water.
Tips for your charter:
Bring food and drinks! You can work with Great Escapes to have this added onto your package. You are also welcome to pack your own coolers with food from the store, or to hire vendors to provide meals for you. Whatever option you choose, definitely have something to eat and drink available. Don’t forget ice!
Bring all the dishes, platters, glasses, and utensils you’ll need. I can help you make a checklist based on the type of celebration and food items you’re planning to bring.
Bring your bathing suit and a towel or two. Even if you think you won’t swim, bring them anyway. You don’t want to get caught changing your mind and not having anything to change into.
Don’t forget hats, sunglasses, and anything else you’d normally take to the beach.
Send a checklist to your guests. This is something I’m happy to help clients create so everyone can have a great time.
Additional things to know:
Great Escapes Yacht is now docked at their private pier at the Galveston Yacht Basin and offers cruises in Galveston Bay and beyond. You can charter a cruise from May 1st to October 31st. They can host charters for parties of 12 or less (this includes any vendors you’d like to bring with you). They also offer dock parties at Pier 6 for larger groups!
Love the idea of photos at Offatts Bayou, but not keen to be a boat? Check out this sunset session!
