OMG I got to do a gender reveal at Disney’s Boardwalk! So. Excited.

A few weeks ago I was in Florida to spend some time with my family who were in from Michigan. While I was in town, one of my very first #DNIcouples, Megan and Ryan, met me for a session. If you’ve been following along with me for awhile, you may have seen their wedding and their Epcot honeymoon session. Today’s post finds us at the beginning of the next chapter in their lives, parenthood!

We had scheduled the shoot a few weeks earlier when Megan saw I was booking sessions at Walt Disney World. Around Thanksgiving she found out she was pregnant with her and Ryan’s first child and she was dying to do a gender reveal! The only caveat was that she wouldn’t find out the gender until I was already back in Houston. Wa waaaa.

Little details like this do not stop me though! We improvised by getting photos with both boy and girl props, so no matter what they would have a good variety to announce the gender to their families.

We met in the early morning at Disney’s Boardwalk. Megan reported to me that at her last appointment the doctor mentioned he suspected she would be having a girl, but couldn’t say for sure. Ryan announced he hated the little boy shoes they brought…and…that he demanded a girl.

We spent the next two hours wandering up and down the boardwalk. I made a point to capture a few “romanticy” photos of the two of them sans props since they are about to depart this station in their life. It’ll be important for their child to see their parents this way someday.

The rest of the time we switched out Mickey for Minnie, black ears for pink ears and blue glitter for pink glitter. We did not switch out the shoes though…because, well, Ryan was demanding a daughter. All the other props were fine, but he drew the line at the shoes.

Lucky for him he got his wish! We are expecting sweet little Riley Mae to make her debut this summer!

Satisfy you’re hankering for even more Disney magic right here!

Hi! I want to know if it has a cost to make and gender reveal in that location.
    Thank you

    • Dawn Browne says:

      Hi Rebeca,
Since we were just walking through the area and not setting anything up or obstructing any area we did not need to pay any fee. We also cleaned up after ourselves so we did not disrupt the guests or Cast Members. If you wanted to set anything up to do a gender reveal you would want to get in touch with Disney to reserve a location and time.
