I have to be honest, I would have posted this session a few weeks ago, but I was saving it in hopes that SCOTUS would have announced their decision on marriage equality this past Monday so this could be a congratulations post! Alas, we must continue to wait with baited breathe. With any luck, they’ll have published a decision in favor of equal rights by this Saturday when we celebrate at the 37th Houston LGBT Pride Festival.
Meet Miranda and Kim! You may have seen them in our ads in OutSmart Magazine. We did their engagement session at Kemah Boardwalk. I had been wanting to do a session there, and they hadn’t been in awhile so we made it happen. It was crowded and a little on the warm side, but we had some blue skies and golden light so we took our time and went with the flow.
These two are so sweet and I love that they’re down for anything. I mean…Kim wanted to get a fun photo in the stockade and I was like…of course! We even rode the carousel. Really any chance I get to go on rides is the best day ever.
I’m hoping these fine ladies won’t have to book that trip out of state to get married before they have their wedding celebration here in Texas. Already in their planning they have been denied booking by a wedding venue in the Houston area based on their sexual orientation. I was appalled when they told me. Luckily they have found another venue that is welcoming them with open arms. I just hope that the SCOTUS decision is in their favor so they can have their actual wedding ceremony here at home.
Fingers crossed!
