This coastal gun battery on Fort San Jacinto in Galveston, Texas has long been abandoned. When it was in operation from 1900 to 1946, its main purpose was to serve as a harbor defense to protect the shipping lanes in and out of Galveston Bay.
While out doing night photography with some of my fellow photogs, we wandered back into the area where this battery sits on the edge of the bay. I’ve been back in this area many times, as the graffiti covered concrete of this location is a fun backdrop. While working on a long exposure someone thought it would be fun to hang out in front of my lens for a moment and so I have a ghostly figure in my shot. Although they say Galveston has many haunted locations and this battery did weather the 1900 Storm, so perhaps this IS a ghost from the past!
