I had so much fun with my friends from The Ivy League Men’s Shop last week! Victor and Latoya created a conceptual magazine centered around Veterans and their contributions to the local community. The magazine is called Standard Issue which references the standard issue items service members receive at their respective basic training/boot camps (think uniforms, pt gear, tools/guns, etc). As you can see, my favorite standard issue item was my boots.

I was so fortunate to have a small part contributing to the magazine and being a featured veteran within it. The magazine was already making an impact on its November 2nd launch date, with Deborah Duncan, inviting us to come share the magazine live on her CBS morning show, Great Day Houston!

So Tuesday morning I met Victor and Latoya and some of my fellow veterans featured in the magazine at the KHOU 11 studios in Houston. The guys were modeling some of the great clothes and accessories available at The Ivy League Men’s Shop and I was in attire and accessories for La Ve Vee Couture. Both stores are located at Vintage Park in northwest Houston.

We had a great time on the show and behind the scenes. The entire KHOU staff was so nice and Deborah stayed after the show to get a photo with our group.

It has been such a joy getting to know The Ivy League staff over the last year. They rescued me when I was in a bind securing men’s wear for a magazine shoot…after five other men’s shops either said no or completely ignored me. Since then Victor and Latoya have invited me into their community with open arms and I just can’t say enough good things about them or their business.

You can see our segment which starts about 1:20 into the clip below. There are two ways you can view the magazine. It is live on issuu, or you can click here. The next issue is scheduled to be released in May 2017.
